Fabio Canavarro. He lead by example, was consistently good in defence and gave 100% in every match.
His brilliant intervention in the final minute of the Germany match lead to Del Piero's goal, proving that he doesn't give up until the final whistle is blown.

Zinedine Zidane coz he almost singlehandedly lead France to the WC 2006 fianls.At the age of 34 he still playes with the calibre and strenght of a 20 yr old.Morover he always boosted the spirit of his team whenevr they felt low.All his teammates love him and he has also won the love and respect of many many football lovers.
He also won the WC 1998 and Euro Cup 2000 for France.

The best captain of the World Cup is...FABIO CANNAVARO.
He's the best of all captain!! He's not only the best captain but also a really excellent player, he's a good defender. He's someone special, he has a good experience and he perfectly knows what a good captain has to do. He's the World champion and he's the best captain of all times.

Zidane, because he helped Frnce a lot in the Knock-Out Stage for example he scored a goal in every match of the Knock-Out Stage except vs. Brazil when he helped Henri score the only goal of the match.

I think that the best player and captain in this year was the capitan of Italy team - Fabio Cannavaro!
He is very strong,tactful and clever!He is the head of Italy soccer team(Lippi of course too!)as i think!

Figo- He didn't score any goals but almost all of the goals were set up by him directly or he somehow helped them get the goal. He also inspired his team to get into the top 4 teams in the world.

because without him, we would have never reached the finals, Henry would not have been able to score that goal against Brazil, we would not have won against Portugal.
Because of him, we won the 1998 world cup, because of him we won the euro 2000!!!
