Let's see: Iran's President and the Mullahs all openly declare their hatred for the west and advocate the elimination or enslavement of Israel and the USA, and they are confidently working on getting nuclear weapons and delivery systems, confident that Russia and China will prevent the Useless Nuisance from interfering, and al-aclu and al-DNC will prevent America from doing anything meaningful...I am little concerned. You cannot win a nuclear war, any more than you can win an earthquake. But Iran's enlightened leaders don't seem to see a problem. It kinda worries me...

Iran is quite safe to travel to and is in fact a gorgeous country Shiraz is a beautiful city. If you are female you should make sure you take a scarf to cover your hair, although now not illegal not to it will be much respected and appreciated. Either gender should wear modest clothing covering the full leg and arms.
Iranian people are some of the warmest most hospitable in the world and you will find yourself approached by them to ask about how you are enjoying the stay.
I was there 5 years ago on vacation and would go back in a heartbeat

Sure it's safe, so long as you do not advertise that you are an American or Jewish. The people are great, the govt. is not. And if you are American and get in trouble, the police won't help you, and there is no American embassy. If you are female, never walk around alone -- packs of men will follow you and corner you; rapes are common. Same with taxis.

Safe as long as you are not Jewish, if their president's sentiments are anything to go by.
