I'm not sure I can compete with lindavankerkhof's insightful and informed answer but I will try. Assuming you are referring to larger truck based SUVs, yes, in most people's situations minivans are better. They usually have better fuel mileage, a more usable interior, and more car like handling. With advances in traction control, ABS brakes and stability control minivans will do just fine in winter driving. Really the only time you would need an SUV is if you are towing a trailer of any kind or going off road. I say go with the minivan if all your transporting are people and cargo. The new Chrysler vans with the seats that fold into the floor are the most versatile.

I have a ninety 8 keep away from Grand Caravan. The gas economic equipment is more effective than a huge SUV, and there are convenience issues... like, power homestead windows, toddler locks, the sliding doors. i love it because of the doors for the most area, pretty on account that my son is 9 months previous and that i nevertheless ought to %. a stroller everywhere with me, that is great to be able to take the seats in and out. It also drives like a motor vehicle, it really is phenomenal. My fiance has a huge relatives so a good type of the circumstances i'm transporting a good type of human beings, it really is phenomenal to have that a lot seating. yet, i don't like attempting to park that huge bus, most of the time that is basically my son, fiance and that i... so we do not choose all that more effective room, curiously all Caravans make a peculiar ticking sound, notwithstanding that is extremely problematical. I have had to get a clean transmission in the three years I have had it. i'm in the marketplace for paying for a clean SUV. some can are available in Hybrid, which solves the gas economic equipment difficulty. i'm no longer certain what percentage trucks are available in 4 wheel drive, or AWD (My van is 2WD) i comprehend i does no longer have a lot junk in my motor vehicle if i did not have as a lot room, it really is phenomenal. i desire I helped extremely. good success, i'm interested in this question, and am curious as to what human beings imagine.

No they are not "hip", "cool", or "trendy" anymore, but mini-vans are definitely a far better value if you do not need to do heavy-duty towing or offroading. Those are the only 2 legit reasons to get an SUV over a mini-van. If you have 4 kids and lots of stuff to transport, stick with mini-vans. They definitely are more fuel efficient, eco-friendly, and...less obnoxious. They also ride and handle much better than an traditional truck-based SUV. If it's a car-based SUV, those aren't quite as bad, but the minivan is still more practical to tote 4 kids and crap around. Stand proud and keep driving a mini-van.

Well to start with, Linda needs Therapy. They built them because that's what the people wanted. The mini-van is a better vehicle for a family than an SUV which only seats 3. They are also more spacious inside which tends to make them more comfortable.

Yep. I got my wife a V6 Caravan to replace her Explorer. 5mpg better on the hiway. Sits a bit lower so her elderly relations find it easier to get in and out. Room for more than two child seats. More room in general. Plus it rides a heck of a lot nicer. The closest her Explorer ever got to "off road" was our driveway and living in the South snow is a very minor problem. So what did she need 4wd for anyway?
On the downside, our teen daughter always thought the Explorer was cool for some reason but the minivan is "like ewww". : )

EVERYTHING is better than a SUV. They slurp so much gas, it's irresponsible they ever built them. Not because it's more expensive, but because we will run out of oil soon and the environment suffers.
