The following movies I know depict the 1950's era in some way, but were obviously made much later in time... the movie based on S.E. Hinton's "The Outsiders", of course Grease (Musical), Pleasantville with Tobey MacGuire and Reese Witherspoon is a portrayal of the 1950's Society for sure (remember Donna Reed?), West Side Story (Musical),
also Another Reese Witherspoon, The Man in the Moon (summer of 1957), Deuces Wild (NY city in the 1950's)
my fav is Pleasantville

A streetcar named desire with marlon brando is a good one. Also, a good classic love story that the 50's produced was an affair to remember with cary grant & deborah kerr. Not a rock and roll, leather jacket flick. But still a good film none the less.

The Wild One (1953) starred Marlon Brando, a biker movie. It was in black-and-white, so I don't know if it's of any interest to you.
