April 30th 1945 Adolf Hitler shot himself through the temple inside his sitting room inside a bunker deep beneath the Reich Chancellery, his bride Eva Braun was dead from ingesting cyanide. 'In Hitler's Bunker; a boy soldier's eyewitness account of the Fuher's Last Days' by Armin D Lehman (with Tim Carroll) gives a riveting account.
Peace.

30th. April 1945 when he shot himself at his bunker in Berlin.
There is now no doubt about this. The Soveit Union did not disclose the facts about Hitler's death at the time because Stalin thought it would suit his purposes to leave the Western powers uncertain. However, even in 1945 the British historian Hugh Trevor-Roper conducted an investigation, e.g. interviewing those who were there at the time, and satisfied himself that Hitler was dead. After the fall of the Soviet Union it became known that the Russians had recovered the charred remains of Hitler's body. Most of these have been deliberately disposed of in such a way that they can never be recovered, but I believe that part of Hitler's skull, with a bullet hole, is now in Moscow.

Adolf Hitler shot himself in the head with a pistol and took some cyanide (to be sure he'd die) on April 30, 1945, shortly before the invading Soviet Army captured his bunker in Berlin. He tried his cyanide on his favorite dog first.
