Its a very good option to MS windows
its comes with a GUI

and with a help of an emulator like Wine it can run most apps designed for Windows

It can't run most software designed for Windows, because although the concept is similar, the Windows sistem is all crapy. You have sistems and subsistems for secondary sistems, and so on. The LInux OS is more stable, it has well defined components into its alchemy, and work way better than Windos because of that. I have a friend that has started work for Microsoft, and is directly related to the developing of Service Pack. 2 days ago, we went to a nearby pub for a glass of beer and a good chat; what he told me just amazed me. As he tried to egt a bug fixed he couldn't see beyond the mess in the code...and belive me he is good at coding and software analisys. He asked a senior engenieer to explain the hole mess to him. That is sad, and they tell you Windows XP is teh best OS up to this date. I eman many use it, but it's all crapy.
