Depending on the level of importance of your position and ease of replacement--2 weeks for most of us peons, up to a year for executives.

If you like them you can put in notice ahead of time at anytime so they are aware. I would do 2-3 weeks. If you have a real good job lined up I would do 1 week if it would not hurt them.

as stated above 2 weeks notice in USA, but do not be surprise if after giving notice the corp fires you right away, sometimes they will do that

also if you give notice in USA you can not collect on unemployment benefits so hope you like your new job

Depends on position....was that not discussed when hired? I attended an inservice on supervision...in nursing they told us that it is best to let that person go when they put in their notice...which I think is mean but that is exactly what they do where I work.

It should say in your contract of employment how much notice you are required to give
