The only things you have to pay for are the things you don't need.
Everything else is free.
Civilisation has gone so far that no-one really believes this anymore.
Fortunately most of the things that matter are both freely available and free. If you refuse to give them up.

Freedom, Love, Empathy, Fairness, Peace, ..... and even food.

There is no such a thing as free, If you choose to do something, it costs you all the things you could have done instead. If you want love, you need to give love and to invest in your love every day in order to keep it. If you die, the cost is life....
fortunately, in most cases we have choice and a lot of times we're happy to pay the price....
