If you speak with anyone that practices Santeria they may be able to tell you. I know that Oya is one of Changos wives. She is a warrior and controls the winds. She is also the guardian of the cemetery. Oshun is the orisha of love and beauty and healing. Her domain is the river.
Do a search and you should be able to find pataki's (stories) on them both. Here is a link that gives basics on the main Orisha http://www.orishanet.org/ocha.html
As far as where they come from I know the Orisha were originally an African deities. Santeria and the Orisha was started in Cuba, they resembled there African counterparts. Understand they are not at all the same just similar. I am only somewhat familiar with Santeria. I practice Vodou which has similarities with Santeria.
