i know there is an easy formula but i have forgotten it since school! i want to find out the percentage of 41 out of 300.

divide the little number by the big number... or ... really the top number by the bottom number.
so the answer for 41/300 is 0.1366666 (so about 14%)

The formula is (41*100)/300
The reason is 1% of 300 is 300/100. You want to know how many '1%s' are in 41, so you divide 41 by 300/100.

percentage is basically asking the question "how much out of 100?"In your example ,if it is 41 out of 300 then say it is X of 100.put it in the equation
41/300=X/100
41x100=X x 300
X=41/300 x 100=13.7 approx
simple way to look at is,divide the 41 by 300 and then multiply by 100.

Therefore you should
Divide 41 by 300 and multiply by 100
41/300 = 0.136666
to get a % 0.136666 x 100 = 13.6666%

First, express the problem as a fraction first. Put X on top and Y at the bottom --> X/Y
Then Multiply X/Y by 100% ---> (X/Y)*100%
That would be the answer that you need.
So, (41/300)*100% = 13.667%
