When I was about three or four, I had a nightmare that I was wandering alone down a street, and a strange, garbled noise was emanating from the woods to my left. And then somehow the sound resolved into a combination of an owl hooting, and merrygo-round music, except like it was playing backwards, all garbled.
And then, I found myself looking out of the window on the second floor of a house or maybe the apartment I lived in, looking down at myself on the street. Then for some reason, I kept hearing the sound of a match repeatedly being struck. That, for some reason was very frightening to me. Then I found myself in the bathroom, and the showerhead came to life as though it were a snake and sprayed me in the face, chasing me back down the stairs. It ended there.
It has stuck with me all these years. I don't know why, it was just strange. I remember it because of all the strange, vivid sounds and how they conjured such strong emotions.

Yes. I'm a vivid dreamer. Sometimes I'll remember my dreams in total and sometimes just in parts that may slowly come back to me throughout the day. I've occasionally had nightmares that have made such a strong impression that I can't shake the feeling even after I wake up. One nightmare a few years ago began with an old green holden car turning the corner into my street. Every now and then I see a similar car turn down my street and I feel a panic rise up inside me that makes me want to run and hide. Another nightmare involved a fierce argument with a co-worker. No matter how hard I tried to convince myself that it was just a dream, it took a long time for me to relax around her because I felt like I couldn't trust her. Our dreamlife is so powerful, isn't it!

Yes I have and it still does!
I have had a nightmare where I am sinking down into fire, paralyzed and unable to keep myself from sinking. Crazed with fear and dread! Hearing horrible droning going on. My heart beating so fast that I felt like it might explode from my body any minute!
When I woke up suddenly from it, I was gasping from fright! I had to keep looking around my room at the familiar until I calmed down. I still have a lot of trouble sleeping since that awful nightmare!

All the time. The subconcious comes out in your dreams. I have had many precognitive dreams in my life, so when I have a scary one, it usually haunts me until I'm sure everything is status quo.

Yes, and fortunately the trauma was so great my conscious mind blocked it completely. (No, I'm not kidding)
