That 1 man was able to reach out and touch so many of our hearts. Steve Irwin was such a genuine person and it is a tragidy that he had to go so young. He brought so much joy and entertainment to us all. from reading the comments posted here and many various websites, he touched people all over the world. If 1 man could do it, then surely there must be many more like him out there. My condolences go out to his family and friends, may you rest in peace Steve.

I never met him....never knew anything more than what is available to the public...but my children loved him, and my eldest wants to be a conservationist because of him (when I was 10, I didn't even know what a conservationist was.) Heck, I talked to his life size cardboard cut-out that stood in our playroom for years. He's touched my family in some ways more than people who are in it. My heart cries not only for his family and those who knew him, but for the many children who've now had their first lesson in how bad things can happen to good people.

Steve Irwin really loved and cared for animals, and did a lot to help them.
