I saw the green light ligh on for a while and fade to organge light and then
light off. The small light at the level also become orange color but also
off after a while.

You may need to change the batteries inside the unit. Go to an apple store/IPOD dealer near you, they will help you out.

You should considered lucky that yr ipod broke down after using for a yr.But if you buy mp3 player from Creative, they will vreak down after less than 2 hours.And dont even bother to ask for help from their customer service people coz they will not bother to attend to yr problems.

Likely you Battery failed. Go get yourself a replacement. And please note ! Never to charge your rechargeable battery when its half drained. Discharge it completely before recharge. No doubt it to have no memory effect for lithium battery. somehow it does have memory effect. Memory effect mean that each time you charge a battery, that say your battery is 3.6v and you charge it when it is at 3.2v. It will take it as 3.2v when full charge.so when the next time you recharge it again after half drained this let sat is 2.9v. then your full charge will 2.9v when full charge.
