I agree that Iran does have guts by standing up to the United States, but, I think it is only a matter of time before they forget about the US and focus on their own problems. With political instability in the nation, the only thing holding them together is their hatred of America, take that away and the country goes to Civil War. In addition, the Americans are doing the smart thing by having the U.N. begin with weak sanctions and then strengthen them as Iran continues to be defiant. By doing that, the U.S. can eventually wear down Russia and China to take their side in imposing tougher sanctions

before the islamic revolution iran was america's ally so how can you say that they are anti american , I am an Indian dont worry iran is nobody's friend , its neither russia's friend. in history iran has used everyone in the middle east , iran is a country with a deep economic crisis , the only reason there is no civil anarchy is because the country has been able to fund its mamoth wierd theocratic political system with the help of oil , if you dont beleive ask any iranian expatriot and they woudl tell you the truth
iran like most west african muslim countries is hollow from inside the only way it can survive and divert its citizens attention from the poverty, curroption,unemployement is by asking its leaders to do stupid things like giving speeches and trying to develop programs
I think you should talk to some cubans and ask them about the std of living in that country , these countries appear good from the outside , in the inside they are much more miserable,
in both iran and cuba there are no rights and freedom , the bus service of tehran employess have been striking for a decade!!! to get their wages increased ,recently the police shaved the tongue of leader of the union you will be shocked to know civil liberty that people in iran have.
many public sector teachers dont get paid for months in Iran
you are lucky to be a russian as they are supposed to have one of the fastest growing economies in the next 2/3 decades.
