I went out the other night and came back with some kind of liquid stain and some dark marks on my trainers and want to make sure I don't ruin them when I clean them. I also have a pair of timberland boots which just seem a magnet for black scuffs, any good ideas appreciated.

A normal eraser would do the job.

Shops that sells shoes have these speciallised eraser meant for suede and nubuck.

After cleaning, the cleaned area would look lighter in color but that's ok. Then coat it a waterproof chemical, 3M has them (sorry can't remember what it's called)

My son has some and when ever he wears them they come back rotten. Do you have a small wire brush?About the size of a toothbrush, if not try a toothbrush. This is what I use. Put on loads of the foam and brush in circles over the stain, wipe off and repeat. Leave to dry in the sun, Clean both boots and dry together, never clean one and not the other.
