Yes, the future has a direct influence on the past. The present is the reality that comes from the future.Therfore the influence of the future on the past is actualy the present bearing it in mind that the past is just the spent present and the present is the dawn of the future.
Simply put,the past is the dusk of the future and the present is the dawn of the future i.e
Puting it in direct propotionalty => FUTURE=kPAST => where k = present spent
and k could be positive or negatve
Therefore =>FUTURE=+-kPAST

all of human history repeats itself. empires rise and fall. peace comes and goes.
the only difference between now and the past is that we now have a global civiliasation. we rely on the people, products and economies of the rest of the world.
famine or disease the other side of the world can have an impact here within days.
there are several lessons to be learned from recorded history and also evolution.
we are just agreesive apes, who succeeded in becoming master of the planet due to our ruthless streak.
v
the prejudices of the last century are still alive in some people and cultures. any of the major global problems which exist in the world today have their roots in recent history; i.e Israel, Islamic Terrorism, etc, and these have ancient causes as well.
It is too easy to blame current nations, or societies for the problems in the world, as when we actually think about it Israel and the issues surrounding it are older than recorded time itself.
The future of humanity and the world will be always be affected by religion. Even if there ever comes a time when there is no faith in God.
This is not to say that religion is a bad thing. Imagine what chaos would have existed in the past and today if there was no faith in a higher being and no wish to live by Their morals.
We needed religion to get to this stage in our history.
Also if the question was meant to be does the future affect the past, it probably does. What ever does happen in the future will cause previous events in the past to be seen in a different light.

I really hope you mean 'Does the past have a direct influence on the future?' In which case the answer is yes.
However, rereading your question it could be said that our future understanding of current problems could hae an influence on how we perceive the past and therefore have an effect on how people analyse the situation.
For example; for the Japanese in WWII the atom bombs were seen as a massive catastrophe for the country. And of course it was in terms of loss of life. But through the rebuilding of the country as a whole post war-it seems to have made it stronger and one of the most powerful nations on the planet-in a similar way to which Germany responded. So in theory we could say the Second World War was a good thing for these countries because they wouldnt be in the same position today otherwise.

Wow, i love this question, its very deep and is along the lines of what i think about a lot. I have come up with a theory a while back which i think fits in with your question.
Basicly i was thinking about the universe and it occured to me that there are 3 dimenisons of space (length, hight and width) and there are also 3 dimenisions of time (past, present and future). I began to wonder if the 3dimenisions of time affect ecah other the same way as the 3dimenisions of space, and if they do than yes the future will have on effect on the past just as length affects width.
I hope that made sence, it makes sence to me but im not good at getting what i think across.

I guess it would if something happened that shed a different light on a past event, such as finding a letter when someone had died that explained why a certain thing had happened. Suddenly your whole perspective can change on an event that may be years old.......
