You probably don't realize it, but a large portion of people asking and answering questions on this page comes from countries where English is not the primary language. So the reason why many people make spelling mistakes is because they simply don't know the language well enough not to make them, and in this case the spell-check function is not very helpful, because they wouldn't know which form is correct anyways.
I wonder whether YOU actually can speak a secondary language, and if you do, whether you would be able to ask questions in that language without making any spelling or grammar errors at all.

While I pride myself on my correct spelling and grammar, I realize that not everyone finds these concepts important. Spelling is not their priority, and I sometimes kick myself for being such a nitpicker when it comes to spelling. However, I, too, am susceptible to the occasional blunder (particularly when typing), and I feel that I shouldn't judge others for their mistakes. Also, there are many people who have learning disabilities, and, of course, there are even more people for whom English is a foreign or second language. As to why they don't use spell check or a dictionary ... Well, if it's not that important to them whether they have spelling or typing mistakes in their text, why would they waste their time checking these things?
Try to be more understanding.

Why would they do that when the yahoo spell checker is on the top right of the box where you answer your questions???? Hmmm, they either think it is cool to spell all the words wrong are they are too lazy or stupid to press the spell check button. Sometimes people also try to use words they do not understand in here to make them sound smarter.

It's a shame that there are people capable of using a PC who think that lousy spelling doesn't matter. They are the ones employers either don't want, or send on remedial courses to learn the basics they failed to learn at school. If you want to get anywhere worth a damn in life LEARN TO SPELL.

I think it's wrong to put people down because they can't spell. The world is full of people that are good at some things but not others.

Because they are dyslexic and don't recognise the erroneous spelling and therefore don't feel the need to click on check spelling - maybe due to their dyslexia they read the Check Spelling button as "Spelling is perfect no need to check".
Alternatively they can't be bothered.

,Gum is taking the piss but never-the-less I agree that some of the spelling is absolutely appalling. Where did these folk go to school, or did they? and if they did, were they vacant when the teacher was trying to get the message across in English lessons? and when it comes to the last item of the 3Rs, Oh Boy!!!
