My husband just got a new motorbike and wants to use his PDA which has a GPS on it. The only thing is that when you use the GPS it runs the battery low really fast. In the car this would be overcome easily by just plugging the car lighter adaptor in - but bikes dont come with that!
I reckon that there must be people out there who have had this issue before.
Any help appreciated!

Sure, cigarette lighters are available for motorcycles. I've installed plenty on touring bikes. Some people like to have a smoke when pulling off the road or going to a restaurant. Like the others said, you can just wire your GPS into the bike's electrical system. But then you need a way to disconnect it easily. A cigarette lighter might be a better way to go.

If the bike has a 12volt power system, then it will be fine. just buy a plug from an electrical or automotive store and connect the positive and negative wires to the appropriate terminals on the bikes battery. I did it on my old harley, so I could charge my phone. never let me down.

No problem...follow the advise of the others and hook up to battery if the bike is new it will for sure be a 12V system.

sure as long as it's a 12 volt system, and to get around it being a "cigarette lighter" it's known as a 12 volt accessory plug
