It all depends on your pain threshold. Also it depends where you have it, the most painful place is down your side. Any bony areas will hurt like feet, collar bone etc. If you are really that worried you can ask the tattoo artist to try using needles with just water to make sure you can handle it. You will obviously have to pay him for opening a new set on needles. At least this way if you find it hurts too much you aren't left with half a tattoo! Good luck.

Depends where you get it done. I had mine done on my right shoulder and at times it felt like the needle was drilling into my bone. It's more an annoying feeling than pain. so go for a small tattoo and see how you go. maybe a rose near your ankle. As far as health concerns ask the tattooist about hygiene and having fresh needles. you would be better going to one a Friend has been to. Take water in with you cause you get a dry mouth.

1. Do your research and get personal references from people on which place to go to.
2. Visit there at least twice for a consultation with the artist. Make sure you are comfortable, and the place is clean.
3. By all means, if you feel strongly about getting a tatoo, get one. The pain varies according to the site (on bone or feet is pretty painful) but the pain goes away quickly.
4. Health risks include hepetitis and HIV. Discuss them with the tatoo artist, and if you are really careful, a Dr.

Depends on where you have the tattoo. Some area are more sensitive then others ranging from tolerable to "What the Hell was I thinking" Don't "cheap out" when picking a Tattoo Artist. The good ones cost a bit , but are well worth it and very sanitary in their work environment

In my experiences, they don't hurt so much as they get annoying after a while. It kind of feels like someone is scratching you really hard. It does not feel like you are getting poked with a bunch of needles though...

It really depends where you get it. Some spots are more tender than others. Pain tolerance is different between people. My dad thinks it hurts, I don't think it does at all.

Yeah, they hurt. It feels like somone is cutting your skin with a razor. Burns pretty badly when their doing it. But as soon as its finished the pain is gone. You can handle it. If I can, anyone can.
