It would be odd if it was true. But it's not.
The so-called "end date" is just the first day of the 13th Baktun. It's like when our calendar went from 1999 to 2000 except that a baktun is 396 years long.
The Mayan Long Count calendar, which is the one you're referring to, is simply a count of days going back to 3113 BCE. Counting has no end.
There *is* a curious thing happening on 12/21/2012 that the Maya thought significant and perhaps they timed the 13th Baktun for that day. On dawn (which is around 7 a.m., not 11:11) there is a very rare (once in 26,000 years) astronomical alignment between the sun and the Milky Way which to the Maya signified the birth of a new world age. (NOT the end of the old one, which has been over for ten or more years).
Our calendar doesn't have an end date and can be projected into the future as well. There's nothing odd about that.

it rather is one which you will rule out. it rather is a lie. The Mayan civilization flourished on the eastern coast of Mexico extra advantageous than one thousand years in the past. the folk and the language nonetheless exist, however the classic subculture has vanished. The Mayans had an precise calendar, yet they divided years into cycles. a variety of ends next 365 days, to be observed with the help of yet another cycle. it is the section that that the rumormongers and cultists do not inform you. it fairly is like asserting that through fact December ends on Dec. thirty first., the worldwide will end the next day. organic nonsense.

Yes, it is odd. Many theorize that mankind evolves/graduates to a higher spiritual plane at that moment. However, my research has found that the Mayan Calendar ends on Dec. 21, 2012, not 2021, as you've posted here.

The Mayan calender was based on the suns 22yr magnetic cycle. It was broken down into 11yr periods. These periods were grouped into larger segments which were our equivalent of centuries and millinea. The mayan used the solar calender to determine all the important dates in the year so they would know when to plant, when to reap, when to sacrifice, etc. At the time the calender ends there would be a great sacrifice and a new calender would be calculated for the new age/universe which would begin at that time.

Heck yeah it's odd! Just as odd as my calender on the wall...It ends 12/31/06 @ 12:00 midnight. Maybe their math was flawed, or we haven't mastered their math? Our math calculations how ever are infinate. Hmmmm?
