Darlin' your best bet on that is to go out and buy you some reference books on the subject, some books cover all of what you need in one book. Please make sure all major main breakers are shut off before doing anything. Thought I knew what I was doing a few years ago, something as simple as turning around a light switch box and spent 2 days in the hospital thanking the big man for sparing me. Carzy things happen with electricity. Be really careful, study up good on what your doing and I personally still recommend having a good reference book close by. Good Luck and for The Lords sake BE CAREFUL

if you are going to do the work yourself-
-switch off the house mains power before even removing a switch cover.
-buy a decent handheld meter.
-never guess, be sure.
-even a lighting circuit can be complicated if more than one switch operate the same light.
-do not treat "live" and "neutral" as interchangeable, get them right. Most things work the wrong way around until something bad happens!
