There are alot of zipping softwares available. The famous one would be WinZip.
You can use WinRAR as well, which can be downloaded here: http://www.download.com/3000-2250-10007677.html
After downloading and installing the software, use the following steps:
1) Create a folder in your computer called "Photos", and throw all your photo folders and individual photos within this folder.
2) Create a folder in your computer, called "Documents", and throw all your documents you wanna 'zip up' within this folder.
3) Right-click the folder, and choose the option "Add to archive..." (Note: this option will only be available after you have downloaded and installed the program available)
4) You should have opened a window for WinRAR program. Look out for the box that allow you to choose between the file formats "RAR" and "ZIP". Select "Zip", as it's the common option, as you may be thinking of sending the file to a friend in the future.
5) Write your preferred file name in the textbox that's on the top of the window. You may name it "Photos.zip". You should be able to zip up the file, and the zipped file should appear within the same directory as where you have placed the Photos folder.
6) To unzip, simply double-click the file "Photos.zip" once again, and choose the extract options!
7) Repeat the following steps for your other Documents folder as well.
Hope this helps!

You can also use 7zip, which is free, a small download and quick. It will also give you rar capability which is a similar compression format. once installed you can:
1) right click on the files that you would like to compress indivdually and select add to archive, you will see a screen with drop down menus. select the type as zip (7z is selected by default). and click ok. once completed you should see a file that has the same name as the file you right clicked but that has the file extension ".zip". now repeat the same process for all others.
2) right click any where on your screen and select New>Folder, choose a name for the folder and add all the files that you would like to compress to the folder. Then repeat the steps above and you will see that it will take longer to complete the compression.
I hope that clarifies it for you.
good luck

Zipping means Compressing. Why do we compress?...some times the size of the file is more than the capacity of the disk. For example, floppy disk's capacity is 1.44mb. A particular file needs to be taken with us in a floppy whose capacity is, say...1.6mb. It is impossible to copy that file to the disk. We need to compress it.
Now we need to have tool to compress it so that we can copy that file into the floppy. The tool is called ZIP.
Down load winzip.
The rest of your question will be answered by some one else....I am little busy actually
