Yes, there are chances judging by the football craze that was prevailing in a few parts of India during this years Football World Cup.
Its status could improve if schools focused equally on every sport whether its football, volleyball etc. Schools have got to encourage their students to try a variety of things. Thats when a child will realize that he/she is not good at cricket but is better at some other sport like soccer.
Anyways..this is not something that will happen at a supersonice speed. It will take lots of time and efforts to divert the Indian minds from the cricket craze to football..

Chances are there only if there are some drastic changes. I feel the media always mentions mainly abt cricket even if we play bad. I think they should also write more abt other sports such as football and atheltics and create awareness between youngsters so they can choose the sport they like. More over the government should take steps by creating training academy and sponsors for players, this encourage players to be free to take up sports as pro rather do it as an amateur. India having a population of more than 1 billion shuld be able to pick up talents. Hope it happens!

Soccer will never improve till these babus are incharge of the game in India . I am running a football association which is a charitable trust we run football programs for younger kids and also run coaching camps for them.
We know how to do it but we do not have our own grounds and we have to look for grounds every year. Every year 500-600 kids register with us. We cannot take more because hard for us to manage this many kids on hired grounds.

Yeah, if there are boys or even girls who are very interesting in soccer and really want to play, then it can be improved. why would soccer not be improved in India? Ask and search for a good coach and you will see. If there are many players and many supporters, it will definitely improve.

soccer( known in india as football) wil lsure improve. it can improve under new coach bob houghton. biachung b hutia said in an interview to hindustan times:
"bob houghton is a good coach. and when practising under him it was very effective."

india needs good passing through in the mid-field and also later on (in the attacking zone_) to recieve passes (crosses) and to sco re in the goal.

one of the saudi arabian players stated after thier match in salt lake, kolkata "ayabha india sutre mono. kelwi sonraj pressinentu" (i say india has lost. but still they played well)

BCCI has more funds than ICC. If they help with 10% of their earning for other sports, there are chances for developement. Especially, in soccer.

no, because indian football team's goalkeepr can never prevent a goal as he thinks that "why should I stop the ball, there is a net behind for stopping it !!!"
