I think the new war is the one of economy between the superpowers. China is getting a lot of Know How from all over the world and is holding American balls into its hands by accepting treasury bunds from the states... They apply very well the AOW by pretending to be a peacefull country but fighting very hard in the back... A good example is the oil deal they made with Venezuela.

China does not want to defeat anybody. Throughout history it has sought a peaceful existence. It is always the people who comes into contact with China that wants to subjugate China. The Art of War has one good lesson and that is "When in war prepare for peace and when in peace prepare for war. China has learn its lesson when foreigners tried to subjugate it during the end of the 19th century. It will never bow to anyone now. As for the US and Europe China prefers to co-operate with them as it is to the mutual benefit of all concern. The same goes for the Japanese and the same state of preparedness will be maintained. China will not tolerate any more disguised attempts at hegemony and will never allow the pretenders from the Chrysethemum Throne who has ambition for the Dragon Throne.

China does apply it. So does almost everyone in business or the military, or at least try to apply it. They say chairman Mao had a dog eared copy of it on him at all times. Good book.

The Chinese had a smart tactic at one time, where they would encircle their enemy completely at a certain distance apart, and they would fire wooden bullets at them. They did this because after a certain distance the wooden bullets would evaporate and not kill their own soldiers standing across from them but only the enemy within the circle.

Yes, everyone is using them but applying them well is another thing.

Sun Tzu, The Art of War:

"All war is based on deception."

"Appear strong when you are weak and weak when you are strong."

"At close quarters, an archer is an unarmed man."

"Energy bends the bow, timing releases the arrow."

"For to win one hundred victories in one hundred battles is not the acme of skill. To subdue the enemy without fighting is the acme of skill."

"Opportunities multiply as they are seized."

Know the enemy before attacking their camps,
Intelligence is a great part of preparing for war,
The mode of attack depends on the information gathered; and
Proper execution of the plan must be implemented to win war.
