She loves her highchair, eats almost anything served to her, loves most vegetables and all fruits, the problem is that I am now trying to cook stage 2 type foods for her which are not chunky exactly but coarser, she hates it. She wants her meals to be smooth purees, my doc says thats fine but I was wondering if there are other babies who hated the transition from puree to chunky?

She may have a hair trigger gag reflex which would account for her difficulty with the change in texture. It will take time for her to learn how to "chew" and swallow without triggering her gag reflex.

Be happy she eats such a healthy variety of foods and don't fret over the texture thing. She'll get the hang of it one day when she is ready.

This is nothing to worry about. Some children go on longer with purees. Every child is different. If you want to introduce chunky foods now then I suggest you soften it with your fingers first. if your child does not have teeth this will happen because they need to chew the chunky food before swallowing. don't try red meat now it is harder to break down. start with eggs, it is the best between purees and solid food.

She gagging because she don't want the food. She is 9 months old she can't talk that is the only way she can tell you she don't want that. Give her the food she likes.

You could try going straight to finger foods.

Kamut puffs or well steamed baby carrots?

most kids dont like change, just sneak a bit in on her now and then, make it something she would like , like a fruit one, and when she accepts that one readily, then add another one.
