I have been reading the answers given by others and was astonished to find no one yet has provided the correct answer.
Well
The bombings(Atom Bombs) at Hiroshima and Nagasaki took place at this time and so the clocks show 10:10. This signifies that the time stops(literally) by a tragedy of such a large scale as the time in the displays of shops remains still at 10:10. And such tragedy should never be repeated for sake of mankind.
Hope my answer satisfied you.

There are two opinion :

1) The Time at which President John Kennedy was shot dead
2) This is the best position, one can see features of the clock completely.

Do you happen to visit the clock shops at 10:10?

it will look nice as you can see the brand name of that clock company in between them, this is the reason I think so. In anyother view (with respect to clock needles) it wont give a better look.

10:10 has two reasons.

first - It is the best position where the brand name of the manufacturer and all the rest of the features on the dial are visible.

Symbolically, 10:10 was the time George Washington died.

it's a nice number which is soothing to the eye...also notice the angle of the hands of the clocks...they are all made to be soothing to the eye so ppl will think the clock/watch looks nicer

I think there are two reasons for it:
One is that this figure is very pleasing to look at.
And the other is it may be a tribute to Abraham Lincoln who died exactly at 10:10.
