I presume that you are pondering if you should ask for a specific gift. One thing that I tend to prefer is that the giver should decide totally what to give. That's not to say that you couldn't drop hints (such as "I really could use a new toaster oven."), but gift giving is just that, a gesture on the part of one person to another. I suspect that if the person knows you well enough, you won't be disappointed.
If you are asking in general, there's always the standard stuff, like world peace, an end to poverty and persecution, and global protection from asteroid collisions. :-)
