Guys don't have to pay on a date. It has to do with who asks. The person who asks typically pays. If you asked out a decent person they should offer to help, maybe get the tip or pay for their half of the meal. But since you asked them out they don't have to.

I always go dutch (I pay for my food and the guy pays for his and we split the tip) because it sure beats running into those idiot guys who expect you to give them anything because "they paid for it" which btw is completely wrong.

Not everyone knows basic etiquette sadly and some traditions (guys paying for a date) die slowly. Course it used to be to show you were a good provider and cared for the person you were taking out.

Hey, if a man can't or won't pay for the date, the gifts, or anything else, it is possible he could be poor. If he has no car, home, bums off money from others, etc, he could be poor.

In my view, a poor man will have trouble supporting his pregnant wife and future family. Plus, a poor man will end up focused so much on family survival that he will forget to spend time with his family.

who asked for the date? usually guys are the ones asking for a date so in that case they pay. if its just friends hanging out both pay. call it tradition. in some respects.

because your mama taught you well.lol if you ask a girl to go out you should pay if she asks you out she should pay or when either asks out mention that u pay half and half thats always fair.this isnt the 1950s but old values are still used for dating and if you have a problem with that then wait until someone asks you out.

it makes them feel in charge i would guess. or maybe they feel like it's what they are supposed to do to demonstrate that they can "take care" of a woman.

i've been out with guys that when the bill came, they would argue with me if i tried to pay for both of us. the waiter/waitress would always take his money. then i would pissed, because i genuinely wanted to pay. i want a man to know up front that i'm serious when i say that i can pay my own bills.

besides, isn't it a nice change of pace for the woman to pay? ?

Because girls suck.

No, seriously, guys shouldn't HAVE to pay. It's nice, but women SHOULD at least OFFER to pay their part every now and then.

They don't. You're just going out with the wrong girls. Golddigger comes to mind.
