With the start of social security most people would have enough to live on with their pensions for the rest of their short lives maybe 10 more years or less.
With the government using the interest from social security as a slush fund for pork belly projects the funds are running out quickly and we will have to go back to working until we drop dead on the job.
There should have been enough money with the interest to keep it solvent . write your Representatives.

If you are referring to the age until social security benefits, it is going up for all those born after 1945.

you do not have to work. who told you this lie? there is a tradition of retiring in later life for those who work and it has devolved into the set age of 65 for social security purposes, but it is not mandatory. there have been changes allowing you to retire on SS at age 62 also.
you can sit on your butt and rot if you want. you only work to 65 to get SS benefits but you are not required to do it. it is OK to starve too. its a free country. do what you want. but be prepared to get the consequences
