Yes, Roald Dahl is a great children's author. I worked in a bookstore for many years and his books were purchased quite often by both children and their parents. A great author. Good luck!

YES he is probably one of the best childrens authors.

his tales not only tell a good story but have lessons for life and words to inspire, scare, enthuse, encourage and beguile the child.

Every child should know of Roald Dahl.

I believe he is a good author as he had such an incredible imagination. He didn't just write books that had ordinary everyday happenings in them, but wild tales of things that just could not really happen. Books like Charlie and the Chocolate factory (of course we all know this as Willie Wonka) James and the Giant Peach and of course Matilda. He takes kids on a journey with animals with made up names and the books never get boring.

I read the Big Friendly Giant, and it was great. He of course wrote the Willie Wonka books, and James and the Giant Peach. He's from the age when it was okay to use a little fear in children's books to encourage positive behaviors, i.e. the kids getting killed off one by one in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, but never in a graphic way.

I love Roald Dahl. My favorite is The Witches. I usually read it to my new class every year. And when its teacher read aloud time--they are eager with anticipation for me to read the next chapter--it's always a hit.

I like Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, but his books are a bit strange and he seems to make adult authority look immature. I've only read three of his books, but otherwise they were good. He has a very interesting writing style.
