I believe the Indian education system is changing for the better!
More & more schools are adopting an approach based on developing multiple intelligences in tune with Howard Gardner's theories on multiple intelligences and education!
People like you also make a difference by questioning the education system in appropriate forums!!!

erm..i think u already pointed out the flaws there in ur question already..but anyways, my personal opinion is that in the education system of India..there's more of book cramming rather than independent thinking.
If u ask a man aged 35+ who had studied under the indian education system when he was 12-18yrs about a certain concept in physics, he will not be able to answer..why? its bcuz he passed all his exams by cramming things..not by understanding the basic and secondary concepts properly..cuz once u learn something by heart..there's no way it can be erased from ur mind.
Another flaw i think is the amount of pressure that is put on the student in this system. Loads of homework, classes after school time are not the healthy ways of improving children's academic lives. Let them live a life too..when will they get the chance again when they grow up into busy citizens of the world?

A total change in education pattern is required. At present we study according to a pre-set pattern which is only partially useful, and as you said, does not allow us to think and grow independently. WE read too much that goes as waste, and too little that enhances our aptitute, which we borrow from our past lives. There shall be arrangement for each indvidual to test his aptitude, capability, and traits, and choose his pattern of education accordingly. If my knowledge of future-o-logy is correct, we in India would adopt this procedure by 2014.

Learning what is accepted knowledge is how I was taught, sometimes you need to know the basics before you start to think about how to do things differently. As you get older you should be allowed to explore your thought and theories more freely. DId you go to uni in India? most of my indian friends went to uni there and this is not something they have ever said was a problem.

I don't know at what level of education you are so it is difficult to answer your question. What I suggest is that you stick with what you have, for the time being, learn what you can from school, also teach yourself what you think is important, then when you have graduated you can perhaps begin to make a difference. Go to the library, research what you think you should be being taught, then, ah, but it is a long, long road, ......

I completely agree with you. Government does not support any scientists pursuing their study on their own. Government / Universities does not recognise any individual who pusue their study on any stream of their interest. Instead they punish them with the help of consititution.
