Hey everyone, I have a problem. About 3 years ago I began my first birth control which was the ortho evra (patch). That worked out perfectly for 2 1/2 years. By perfectly I mean that I used it correctly, there were no side effects, and of course I did not end up pregnant. Until I began to spot a week before my period began. Now I told my doctor about this and she said that it was normal. But I felt so unncomfortable having to bleed when I wasnt supposed to, so I stopped the patch for about 3 months and everthing wass great, except that there was unprotected sex. Anyway, so I went to the doctor again and I began the YASMIN birth control pills and the first two months were fine but then every month a week 1/2 before my period begins I begin to spot and sometimes even bleed. I hate this as I am almost on my period for 2 1/2 weeks, which makes it impossible to get some (my boyfriend and I hate doing it this way).. Anyway what should I do now? Do you really think that it is my body reacting

Should I stop birth control all together? Has anyone had any stories similar to mine, please share.

I think you should probably move over the pill or another birth control solution.

As far as a simular experience goes:
A friend of mine had a REAL bad time with the patch. She got blood clots and had to spend 6 days in a hospital from it. There is actually a class action lawsuit regarding the patch!

I put her website in my sources if you want to hear more about her story and contact her. She totally is trying to get people to signup for the lawsuit that got hurt....and I don't blame her ;-)

You should possibly try the depo provera shot. The only bad side effect that I had was it really lowered my sex drive. They give it to sex offenders to lower their sex drive. Well, pretty much killed mine, but that doesn't happen for everyone, so it's worth a try. If it does the same thing, don't go back for your next shot. I had NO period, EVER when I was on it, so that is the main reason why it was SOOOOO hard to go off it.

Don't stop it altogether. This is common, and even typical of most women's experiences with hormonal birth control. Visit your doctor and discuss your concerns with her. She may be able to prescribe a different medication that will work better for you. Additionally, there are alternatives to hormonal birth control, so you can discuss those with her, too.
