we put our raspberry plant in a big tub to restrict it from taking over the garden...and believe me it will if you plant it straight into the garden.....and we had a lovely crop...water and feed regularly..and when its finished.let it die back and prune it...dont forget to wash the fruit before eating...enjoy!!!

Choose Canby if you can; they are rated tops for flavor and are nearly thornless. Plant in rows 2' apart. A heavy dressing of well-rotted manure each year will keep weeds down and give you a vigorous crop.

Raspberries are biennials. Canes grow the first year, fruit the second year and then die. Prune them out after harvest.

Your raspberries will spread via the root system. You can hoe out the new shoots, or dig them and transplant them into a new row to enlarge your patch.

Raspberries are tough and disease resistent so you shouldn't need to spray them - or wash them. Happy eating!

buy the type you want

plant in rows about 2ft apart put a post at each end of the row with supporting wires about every 2ft

when established plenty of compost round the roots and prune out the shoots that have fruited each year along with the unwanted shoots they take about 2 years before you get a good crop but worth the effort

You buy canes. There are many varieties and Autumn Bliss is a very good one for late cropping. They need space about 2 feet apart and a good soil. They have to be cut right down to the root every year and they self seed like mad so you have to move them otherwise they get overcrowded and you get a mould . Ken Muir for canes.
