Try changing the cycles that you feed him and what times you lie him down to sleep. Do the change GRADUALLY!!!!
I cant help with the breathing cos i dont know what it sounds like, but dont worry. If it continues, get him checked out. call a clinic, hospital, or pharmacy and talk to people there. They can help!
Good luck. May God bless you and your child!

Well first of all he's only 2 weeks old. He's going to have weird sleep schedules for the first month or two. I know exactly how that can feel. My first tip, sleep when he sleeps. Even if it's only 30 minutes. I don't know if you are breastfeeding, but pumping or supplementing a bottle before bed time could give you a little more time if you are comfortable with that. Also have your husband take turns during the night. If you breast feed maybe he could get up and change him and put him back to bed after you feed him. If you bottle feed, change out every other feeding. Get a trusted friend or family member to come over and take him for an hour or two and take a power nap. And his breathing...take him in to rule out sleep apnea and to make yourself feel better. Best of luck and I will say a prayer for you.

It takes a few weeks for babies' sleep cycles to get on track. It should be getting there soon.
Try making it difficult on your baby to sleep during the day. Meaning, be loud (vacuum, leave the tv on loud), let him sleep in bright rooms, and don't hold him (so he's not too comfortable). Keep in mind that newborns sleep like 18 hours a day, so he does need to sleep a lot during the day. I would let him sleep for 2-3 hours & then wake him up-- Feed him, sing to him, walk around with him, etc.
We all go through it--hang in there!

When i had my first baby i only slept like 2 to 4 hours (if i got lucky) in her first month but i was very new to being a mom so i did not know what to do thank god she got over it after being one month and a half so when i had my second baby i would try so hard to keep her up during the day and its so hard because they are newborns but i would only let my little one sleep very little during the day so i would keep bugging her. so wen night comes shes so tired and sleepy also if he dont want to go to sleep at night try boiling some chamomile and feed it to him only like 1 ounce buy those baby shampoos with lavender and chamomile it will relax him and put him to sleep then he will develop a sleeping schedule. Doctors say not to feed a newborn anything but milk but chamomile is very safe my mom used it with all of us and we are 7 and i use it too.

Try giving the baby a bath with the baby wash that has the lavender and chamomile soothers in it. After wards, put the baby on a comfortable sleeper and if it's cool in the home swaddle him/her. This works for my 5 week old. As long as they have full bellies, are clean. and are warm you can usually get 3 hours in good. Unfortunately it will be a few months before you can get a full nights sleep. The funny breathing is normal. It's called apnea(quickening of breath) if he sounds congested try using a suction to clear his nasal passages. And please get used to the funny hours. This comes with the territory.

Try to nap during the day while the baby is sleeping. You need to sleep and eat, so you can take care of your baby, everything else can wait.
It will get better, good luck!
as for the breathing - it is normal for a newborn's breathing to be unsteady, keep his bed right by yours. Your breathing will regulate his, and you will hear if he stops breathing.

No answer, went through the same with mine and tried all the sleep programs etc and never worked. But by twelve months (I know it will seem like forever) they slept all night. Though try to sleep when baby sleeps, the housework can wait till the baby is awake.
Don't forget you are still recovering from the birth, so give yourself some time.
Hopefully on here, someone may give you some successful advice.

When my little girl was born I was breast feeding her and she refused to sleep longer then 20 minutes at a crack and wanted to be up feeding again. After two days of that I decided to switch her to formula and ever since then she has been sleeping through the night. But if hes already on formula I guess try to keep him up as much as you can during the day even if he wants to sleep so he will sleep during the night or else you will just have to sleep during the day when you can until he straitens himself out. You could also go to babycenter.com and see if they have any useful hints about getting your baby to sleep through the night.

you sleep when the baby sleep, got it........after a few days of that you can start transitioning him to more awake time during the day so he sleeps longer at night.......but get used to it for a bit, he shouldn't sleep more than two hours tops at that age. You control how long he sleeps during the day......I know, its nice when they sleep, we can get stuff done........but if you want sleep at night you have to keep him awake during the day more.....and it takes time, for now the best thing for you is to lay down and nap whenever he does...but never in the same room!

A baby that young doesnt yet know the difference between night and day,he'll settle into a routine soon . One thing I might suggest is that it may be too quite in his room, remember inside a mothers tummy can be noisey and this is soothing to a baby, maybe try some soft music to let him fall asleep. My eldest now 4 used to fall asleep when I started vacuuming. Babies hey wish they could talk and tell us what they needed.
