I think they are fine if they stay in Mexico!

I think people forget their usefulness here in the U.S. I'm hispanic descent myself (2nd generation American) and I know we're hard working people. Most of those immigrants will try to prove themselves in the work world by taking jobs most people don't want. Sadly, this makes them easy to take advantage of, and their descendants have to deal with the "cheap labor" stereotypes. Most do want to be tax paying citizens, but the government here makes it hard to get even the residence.
Oh yeah. One more thing... Mexicans are divided by class and (sadly) race. The light skin/dark skin debate is very common in that country. You get more education & social advantages in Mexico if you are light skinned. If you are poor and light skinned, it will be much easier to go up in class.
If you have dark skin, you are treated like dirt. If you are poor and dark, you get stuck being poor for the rest of your life.
I remember as a kid that I had debates with my extended family (who are from the upper class) over this issue. How the people were treated was a big issue for me, esp. after learning about the African-American struggles that happened here in the U.S. After that, they didn't have too high of opinions about me because I questioned the controversy head on. To them, I was an unusual girl.

Having spent a lot of time in mexico, I was shocked at the poverty there, I dont blame them for wanting to get a better life for themselve
I came to australia to get away from Margaret Thatchers recession in the uk, I just wanted an opportunity to achieve my best.
Mexicans just want the same, personally I find them very hospitable and friendly, prepared to share even when they have very little.

I have Mexicans living on either side of me. The guy on one side is gay. The guy on the other rides Harleys.
I like them a whole lot better than the dumb fuckn yankee who lived on one side and the dope selling ***** with the loud stereo who lived on the other.
