School band. If they can not learn in band they can always get an instruction book with Cd's and learn that way. I learned to play the clarinet using an instruction book that included Cd's.

Well, there's always the school band. If the kids don't want that, they can take private lessons with a local teacher. There might be a couple of rare instances where people are self-taught, but that's very difficult to accomplish.

I dont know where you live but in some Middle schools they have music programs where children rent the instrument and the children stay after school to learn..

Also you could look up in the Yellow pages..under Music or Music lessons

Check the local paper classifieds section for music teachers and tutors, also the local phone book for the same.
