Compared to other straight to DVD movies, how well did Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children do? And am I correct that it was released straight to DVD?

I assume that the lower rate of the sales is due to the target audience problem. the movie main targeted audience were the players of FF7 game. It's a continuous sequence from the game.

I think most of the people who wanted to see it downloaded it. Originally it was supposed to be released in the US and Japan on the same day, but the Japanese release ended up coming out sooner, and many fans didn't want to wait. As far as actual sales goes, I don't have any estimates, but I'm guessing the number was relatively low. I'm pretty sure it went straight to DVD.

5 stars! Worth watching! Characters dynamically improved! Good story! Good action scenes! Amazing 3-D animation...their improving this computer-based animation and it's good. I like it better than FF: Spirits Within. Thumbs up to Square Ennix!

I don't know about numbers, sorry, but I think that it did pretty well, especially as they've released it as a UMD video for PSP as well now.
