I haven't read my algebra book lately. But I think paretheses tell you what to do first. For example. (a5<0)*b5+(a5>0)*b6. If you took out the parentheses, it wouldn't work correctly. Unless your talking about absolute value. For example. (-5)=5. I think parentheses is the wrong thing to use. I think [-5]=5 is correct. Maybe. I dont know. Parentheses work with multiplication too. For example.
3(1-2)=3(1)+3(-2), or is that 3(-1)? Confusing huh?
