Do they actually wield any power? If so would you say they were a powerful body of representitives? Do your believe the U.N. is capable of uniting a very devided world and bringing peace? If in fact they do have or obtain any real power over governments do we ever have to fear that they will impose thier views upon us? Is the U.N. leading to or for the purpose of a one world government? If so controlled by who? If not then why? Should we be paying for most of the cost burden? Why?

What do you think?

An almost totally wasted amount of time and money!
that organization has no true power and to many worthless countries (like france) that have veto power. Alot of promises-but no real benefits! The UN should go the way of the League of Nations!

The UN is weak on purpose, but it is also very useful. All those suffering masses out their in our world need assistance, and it is often the UN or no help at all.
The major powers like the United States, British, French, Japanese, Chinese, India, Pakistan and Russia use the UN to promote their particular point of view. This weak set up is necessary to give every one some assurance that the UN can be trusted.
The UN has had problems, but they were right about not certifying the War on Iraq. All and All the World community needs the UN more than they say including the United States.

The U.N. is a useless, powerless, graft-ridden waste of time, expense and hope. They wield no true power over anyone or thing, they are well known for skimming money that is meant for those who need food, shelter, protection and medicine. The U.N. should be dis-banded, disenfranchised, and the members should be made to serve in the aiding of those in the countries that have the most need for assistance, and to end this little speech, the U.N. should just STFU.

The UN is a weak reed on which to rest any nation's foreign policy. It is a collection of states, none of which will sacrifice perceived vital national interests to, nor easily spill blood for, a majority designated good. To maximise international support, the US and its democratic allies should seek UN authorisation before intervening militarily. But to precondition UN authorisation before intervening against either demonstrably imminent threats to international peace and security, or moral abominations such as genocide and ethnic cleansing, is moral folly.
