Okay, if it's just the armpits, then it may be that you need to exfoliate, although shaving usually does it on it's own.
If you have darkness on your knuckles, joints, (like knees and elbows) skin texture that's different (rougher) in these areas, you may have a hormone imbalance called Poly-cystic Ovarian Syndrome. It causes dark spots like you describe and other symptoms like hair on your head falling out, and hair growing where it shouldn't. Like your face and breasts. The disease is caused by an over production of testosterone, and too little estrogen and progesterone. See your gynecologist or endocrinologist if this seems like you.
Otherwise, try the lemon juice! :)
p.s.
PCOS causes an over-production of insulin (from having too much testosterone), which kicks up your sugar levels. You crave it too. It's what causes your skin to change color and texture.

That comes from shaving the area too much. You may want to consider waxing. Also your doctor could probably prescribe you some hydroquinine cream that can lighten the area gradually if it really bothers you, but you cannot shave the area when treating it. Have you considered that it may all be in your head. Im sure no one will really look at your pits that hard unless you are going as the Statute of Liberty for halloween.

i know what you mean. and even though you shave completely its still dark. if its the little hairs that are causing the dark color under your skin try getting some kind of safe hair removal system that dissolves the hairs deep in your skin...that way it may show up less visable...try it. good luck

look into a mirror, look into your eyes, say I love you.....
stop looking at yourself in judgment. be grateful you can see, walk, talk, eat, drink and be merry. love is a beautiful thing, got to come from within..
