I am not in the Dark Ages, mainly because I do not have a TV.
However, now I know who he was, was he so important as to justify all the palaver?

He appeared on nature programs and was a very larger than life character if one of his shows get shown on tv give it a watch the guy is fearless around huge crocs.

If you do not have a telly, there is every possibility you will not have heard of Steve Irwin, or a lot of other people. There is no reason you should have. But the fuss is being made because he did so much to conserve nature, both flora and fauna, and we could do with a few million more like him.

He was an Aussie legend (and acid tongue he didn't try to feed his son to a croc you goose, he fed a croc while he was holding his son, slight difference).
