He appeared on nature programs and was a very larger than life character if one of his shows get shown on tv give it a watch the guy is fearless around huge crocs.

If you do not have a telly, there is every possibility you will not have heard of Steve Irwin, or a lot of other people. There is no reason you should have. But the fuss is being made because he did so much to conserve nature, both flora and fauna, and we could do with a few million more like him.
