If their crime fits that sort of punishment, then you betcha!! I think it would lower the rate of violent crimes, but not necessarily the amount of illegal drugs. I think the death penalty is a bit harsh for someone selling illegal drugs, unless it involved a violent crime as well.

No I don't.
It might lower our crime rate but it is wrong to take another man's life, criminal or not.
Cruel, degrading or inhuman punishment should not be allowed.
After all, another wrong won't make it right.
I saw a print on a shirt about a year ago that says "Why Do We Kill People Who Are Killing People To Show That Killing People Is Wrong?"
Why indeed? Beats me.

Maybe do the same way they did to others, but the person assigned to do it would have to be just as sick. Maybe public hangings, but only if caught doing the actual crime, but there are people who love those criminals also, a no win situation.

Shooting criminals in public wasn't usually premeditated here. We just hung them.
It would turn some away from crime, but most criminals are in it for the money. Many criminals believe they won't be caught. Then, of course, you have the types who would enjoy the attention even if it does end in death for them.
They still have plenty of crime in countries that hand out harsh punishments.

It would certainly deter some people from committing similar crimes. That would help control prison populations.

no, that's disgusting. That would just encourage drug dealers to kill the cops when about to get caught, knowing that they're going to die. I do think all rapists and murderers should die though. Not in public though, and not with a gun. Use the injection thing. I forgot what it's called.

I'm gung-ho when it comes to the CODE OF HAMMURABI!!!Take it back to the "first" written codes depending upon the severity of the crime. I feel as though any wrong having to do w/ children and the elderly warrant extreme measures.

in terms of the amount of money we pay to keep a death row or life inmate alive i think it would be beneficial to possibly do so as you asked it would deter anyone from contemplating to repeat the action that is being punished and further more the money saved could go into an education system to keep people from getting so bored they revert to violence . i think you have something here

Olden times they quarter the prisoners and disembowel them. Maybe clubbing them on the head is more humane
