does anyone know if jeordi could be the commanding officer on the ship if somehow everyone else ahead where "away", my friend thinks no as he is enlisted, but i would think the head of engineering has to be somewhere in the there.

Jeordi has been put in command before. I don't remember which show but I remember the scene. As he is told to take the bridge he looks around the bridge and slowly sits in the captains chair. And he is an officer. Lt Commander I believe.

He was on the bridge several times. The last few seasons, Dr. Crusher, and Counselor Troy along with Jeordi had been training for command positions.

Georgi was not an enlisted person. He was Chief Engineer and held the rank of Lieutenant Commander.
There were many episodes that the bridge was left to him.

Yup I think that there was an episode with him as the commander of the ship when it split apart.
And if Im not mistaken he was the commander of the warship part of the vessel.
