sprinkle some baking soda in them and let them sit out in the sun for a day or so?

Leather gets pretty raunchy if your feet sweat - so wear socks, or powders to try to prevent that.

spray with footspray or just put a box of baking soda nearby and let them sit a while

I've sprayed them with Lysol and all of the stench goes away.
