Honey, trust me on this. Just go ask him. If you just sit there and wait idly by, either he's gonna ask someone else, or someone else is gonna ask him.
It's better to find out now and go from there, than to just wait and wonder.
I've been waiting and wondering for 12 years now, if I had said yes to someone back in the day what might have happened...it sucks to wonder what could have been.
In general conversation, just ask him if he'd decided who he's taking to the dance yet...if he says I don't know, suggest the 2 of you go together...if it doesn't work, find someone new...if it does, lucky you :)
Good Luck!

Hi...
Ask your crush (causually) if he as a date to homecoming... If he says no, say, "Yea, neither do I..." in an annoyed tone...
Then perk up and start laughing (like you are making a joke)... and say, "You know what? If none of us get a date soon, we will just have to go together. We don't want to look stupid by showing up to homecoming without a date."
Judge his reaction... if he seems open to the idea, then press the issue more... doing so in a joking friend like manner... say "Do you have tuxedo that will match my (color) homecoming dress? I don't want us to clash." Remember-- smile, smile, smile...
Maybe he will take the hint and ask you to go with him...
If he doesn't... or he says he doesn't want to go with you... sigh heavily and say, "Oh well, it was worth a try. Perhaps I can call rent a date or something." Then burst out laughing again... Remember, you were only joking to begin with. ;)
Good Luck...
T.

I find that rather complicated but I think you should just be honest because if you just sit there wondering how to tell him he might ask someone else. First just strike up a normal conversation and if things are really well just go for it girl. I have a feeling things will work out.

Just ask him. Chances are he likes you, too. Besides, how would he know to ask if he didn't know you liked him yet?

No, there's not really any way. It's easier to just ask him.
