I'm just a kid, but i've studied into this and i think i have this problem... something to do with the stools not being activated for a while because my colon is stretched? The only help i get is eating Mexican in helping with stool softener, I definetly need something that will get me on track to maintain healthy digestion habits. Any suggestions would be very helpful. I do exercise, eat fruits, and drink mostly water...

Take a fiber suppliment. Nothing wrong with that.

Ask your folks to take you to your doctor. In the meantime, consult with your mom about a healthy diet. If you're not into junk food, all the better for you, but if you are, cut back on them, as they can't be helping. See if a fiber supplement would help and if so, how much would be good for you to take on a daily basis. Obviously, taking as much as an adult wouldn't be necessary, unless you're overweight for your age.

Also, Mexican food might be helping now, but you'll be paying the price later on. All it does is irritate your colon, that’s why you don’t seem to be constipated shortly after you eat it. Avoid spicy foods and look into more greens, proteins and other better foods.

If this has been going on for a while, it sounds to me as if you might have something called IBS, or Irritable Bowel Syndrome. Your doctor could tell you whether or not this is the case.

You might also have a food allergy you may not be aware of, so be sure to take this up with your parents *and* with your doctor. If they can't afford to take you, or you feel uncomfortable taking it up with your folks, can you consult with a school nurse?
(I know that some schools don't have health specialists because of lack of funding.)

Good luck!

You probably need something to get the initial back up out. Try sugar free candy like Russel Stovers sugar free chocolates or Reese's sugar free cups. Eat the whole 3 oz pack. From their you need to drink a lot of water to keep your bowels loose, then keep a high fiber diet. Instead of white bread you need wheat. Some fibers just cause gas, so make sure you are getting the ones that actually cause the bowel movements. Starting the day with a high fiber cereal may help keep you regular and make sure to get some exercise. The more active we are the more we are able to metabolize our food.

Whoa there! Mexican food will only exacerbate your condition and stool softeners really dont help if your plumbing is backed up. Increase your fiber and fluid intake for the next few days and see if that helps any. You may want to seek the advice of a doctor if your constipation persists. It may be a sign of a underlying gastrointestinal problem.

Drink supplements with Psyllium Husks, eat
lots of fibrous vegetables, brans, fibrous fruits
like papaya and pineapple but eat less apple and
citrous fruits because acid in the stomach
could create more stool discharging problems.
Drink water with trace minerals, not water direct
from the faucet, it is possible to get contaminated
with bacteria from tap water. And bacteria from
water could cause gastro intestinal problems.

High fiber diet from vegetables (leaves and even legumes) is recommended for such cases. Try to minimize meat intakes, fish would be a better alternative. Yes, keep that water intake regular.

Like everyone else said, do eat lots of fiber. Like all-bran, beans, apples, cauliflower, prunes, whole wheat bread, popcorn, nuts, gobo and where I live they say you should drink lots of water. In Japan where I live they also have a thing called KONYAKU (devils tongue) which has no calories but lots of fiber!

nah...its IBS. add grains. ask about medication (not antidepressants)

ibs happens when an enzyme is lacking in the intestine to keep you regular.
