men are against abortion, hoverer they forget the fact that an embryo has a mother and a father,, it's always the woman's right to choose, whatever her decision, the mother has all the responsibility, but where is the responsibility of the Father,,,they are usually absent, so the mother has soul responsibility for the decision to choose life or death, alone, This is wrong, the fathers of the embryos must be held accountable. If women have to make all the decisions about life and death, then a woman should be president, perhaps men could be given positions in government with less responsibility.

No they are not the same thing. Hey, I am a Democrat and it's time we looked seriously at what the death penalty is realling about.

We spend a lot of our emotional energy sick inside that we are taking a human life. And the twisted part of this is that we are wasting that emotion on people who have committed heinous crimes against our fellow citizens without the slightest sense of mercy or compassion for the lives they destroyed.

It is a good sign that we hesitate to use the death penalty, but the reality is that is ultimately in our best interest to do so.

I have given the subject considerable thought and have concluded the following: if you would kill someone to prevent the rape or murder which they were about to commit, then the death penalty as punishment after the fact seems more than appropriate. The victims are beyond our emotional reach and thus are denied the mercy that we choose to give to their killers. It's just wrong.

Should Atticus Finch have hesitated and not shot the rabid dog. Would you hesitate to shoot Gacy, Dahmer, or any other murderous villian if doing so would save an innocent life??

We cannot be afraid to remove the rabid, predatory people from within the human body, when the time comes. We do not celebrate their deaths, but we acknowledge that for such people there is no hope for rehabilitation and we further acknowledge that life imprisonment is a far more inhumane punishment than the "relative" peace of a swift and painless death.

And for those who desire more suffering....it is entirely possible that they are being sent more swiftly to torment beyond our imagining.

That's all I have to say about that....

obviously, everyone else has answered your quesiton, and I hope you take their answers into consideration rather than just assuming they are the same thing. And not ALL republicans are for the death penalty, just so you know, but most democrats believe in a woman's right to choose. I will just reiterate, a fetus, an innocent small little thing growing inside you is COMPLETELY, COMPLETELY different than sentencing someone to die, probably for killing someone or, multiple, other people. and lets just take something else into consideration, they are usually heinous crimes that these criminals have committed, how about killing children. What's get me in the abortion debate is what if the person having the abortion was aborted... they certainly wouldn't have that choice now would they? And how about ask it the other way, it would be more appropriate, WHY DO DEMS BELIEVE IN ABORTION, BUT NOT IN THE DEATH PENALTY??

I would agree, although I try not to group all of a certain group together. I absolutely hate it when someone will be so against abortion in all circumstances yet for the death penalty even in the face of innocents being executed. I saw a very funny political cartoon that showed a man looking at posters for 1) anti-abortion, 2) anti death penalty, and 3) anti war. A man was looking at the posters and saying, "I can agree with one, maybe two, but not all three."

On the same token, why are so many liberal Democrats pro-choice, but anti-death penalty?
See, neither makes sense, really. But personally, I prefer the idea of killing a murderer, rather than killing a baby. It's called BIRTH CONTROL, CONDOMS, or ABSTINENCE. That way we wouldn't have a NEED for abortion to remain legal, except for in cases where the mother-to-be's life is in danger. For rapes, we have the "morning after" pill, which is very effective.

A devout person would be against abortion and the death penalty
on the ground both are immoral .

A pragmatist would be for abortion and the death penalty .

But it takes years of therapy for liberals to be for abortion but against the death penalty

Death penalty is for the murderers while abortion is the act of killing a fetus which is legal in some situations just like when a woman was impregnated due to rape which can be justified because the sex occurred due to force.

ALWAYS RIGHT IS ALWAYS WRONG: Call it what you want "fool", the Death Penalty is Murder. It's not euthanasia. It's not suicide. I'm not saying I'm against it, I'm just calling it for what it is...

Someone just told me your the "DEE DEE-DEE"....

Here is the funny part: I hear soooo many Republicans against abortion, yet no one will adopt them, and don't tell me that you would, because there are a lot of children in the inner city who needs a family. It's called being a hypocrite....

The death penalty is for a punishment. Abortion is the destruction of innocent life. Yes it is life because if you can stop it from becoming a human, it is life. The death penalty is in direct response to a crime. It is not random or done because of inconvenience.

for all of you who use the bible as grounds to call abortion murder

the life of the flesh is in the blood
(Leviticus 17:11)

the fetus doesn't receive blood until several weeks into the pregnancy so biblically it isn't a life until then
