I live in a city and we had a block party and most of the block participated. We had a really great D.J. from noon till 5:00. Everyone was in the street dancing and having a great time and the music was great, a little bit of everything. It was happy, happy, happy, kind of like being at a wedding. When the D.J. left,my husband brought out his huge stereo and all his equipment and offered to take over. All the neighbors were bringing him their c.d's and I went and got mine. He would only play his Charlie Daniels music (we live near New York City). It was blasting and I could tell people were getting annoyed. My son kept telling me to stop him but he acted like a spoiled child and would not let me near his sound system. It was embarrassing. He also did this at my baby shower last summer, just came out in the yard and set up and started blasting Charlie Daniels which I don't even like. I don't barbeque anymore because he will start with the music.

you have to explain to him that he should respect all sorts of music. Why don't you expose him to other songs and artists he may like? Then, when he has a few faves, burn a cd of all of his favorite songs (with a few extras that the block likes) label it the bbq cd! You could play it at the parties and bbq. Make a few to mix it up. Both him and the neighbors will be happy with it, and you won't be embarrassed!

It sounds to me that you're hubby is just that a spoiled child. He was self centered when he wouldn't play the other persons music. A little variety is enjoyable. He needs to grow up. Put a diaper on him until he makes the growing up part on his own. I WISH A WHOLE LOT OF LUCK!!!!!! Here's to you girl.

He is an attention whore. Maybe you can talk to him when he is calm and not trying to show off. The only other way would be to have all the neighbors put on an intervention and tell him just what they think of the way he acts.

Is your husband an ****** in other ways besides this? That is so passive-aggressive. I would break his equipment - or throw away his music.
