Who has read it and thought it was not a good read? What about Christians.. do you read the bible and get bored? Honestly? I mean, I'm sure Muslims read the Quran and get bored. Just wondering. Oh and I probably won't read it anyway, I just wanted to know if there's boring spots, or if the whole thing is boring.. or if it's an exciting read.

Many man parts of the bible are truly unnecessary, i mean really, who cares who's son had who's son had who's son....
ad infinitum.
There is, however, MUCH in the bible that is very interesting and worth reading. How to skip over the fodder? Good question.....

The bible's not the only scripture that has many parts that were altered by man's interpretation or down right personal additions.

Some of the bible's "laws" were placed there by the people governing the population in the guise of "if we say God said it then they will do it". Do you think God cared if people ate a pig? The people were getting sick from eating pork -- they didn't have a fridge -- get it?

Read all the red parts they are great! John, Isaiah, and a few others are great. Reading of this sort will certainly develop your discernment.

Have Fun!

Curriosity is the essence of knowledge...

I think you are not curious about learning your religion, life and life here after.

Quran, Bible or Geeta all holy books tought us to lead our life with discipline and according to the our respective religion. So read it out , though Bible is not in its origional form any more, It has been emended yet it contains the code of life but the Quran is only Spritual book who is in its origional form as it was ever before. Its in the hearts of million of Muslims. Muslims use to learn Quran by heart.

One thing i must add here, Muslims don't get bored while reciting the Quran. Infact they feel pleasure and satisfaction and learn from it caz it is a complete code of life.

If you really curious about knowing something..Read Quran with translation and explaination which is easily available in Almost every language.

All the Best.....May you know what you are looking for..

Well, that would depend on your perception. For a brief moment, let us look at the Bible as a literary work, and not as something that is attached to any religious belief. In and of itself, the Bible is a great literary work, certainly one of the greatest out there, especially when one considers its staying power and how much it has influenced everything from history to politics to arts and culture.

As a "read," the Bible has everything: politics, romance, action, and a great deal of moral lessons to learn from - it's all a matter of figuring out what you want to read, and then where you're going to find it in the Bible itself. Anything that falls out of your interest will certainly be boring, but anything else that falls within your range of interests will most likely not make you bored.

I used to pick up the bible and put it down, not understanding it at all. Someone took me to a good bible teaching church. That was about ten years ago. In those ten years, I have been in bible study and learned alot. The bible is much more to me now, like a treasure trove of information and comfort.

I think alot has to do with a teacher. Just as perhaps, in school, you may have liked classes with good teachers better than classes with boring teachers, a good bible teaching church can make all the difference.

By the way, if you're ever in need of your heart being touched with love, comfort and peace, try the Psalms *smile*.

Well, I wouldn't reccomend starting in Genesis, and I don't care who you are, Leviticus will just give you a headache. Start with something like Matthew, Mark, or Luke. Have you read Song of Solomon? It's all about a lover singing his lover's praises. Reveleations is always intense, if you feel like something scarier. Yes, I'm a Christian, and no I don't find it all gripping reading, but I try to at least find out what the books contain, even if I don't make them a part of my regular reading.

It is a very good read, especially if you get a modern translation such as The Living Bible. You will have a hard time if you try to read the King James Version, as some of the terminology is tough and confusing at times and it can be mentally taxing.

If you really want to get into the bible and study it, then go for it. If you want to be a better christian or something, go to some bible camps and learn about it from people that have studied the book for decades. There's a lot in the bible. It varies from inaccuracies and contradictions to good moral lessons to inspiring stories. It's really up to you how much you want to study your religion.

And thank you for posting this here. As a witch, it gave me a good chuckle to see this in the "Mythology and Folklore" section.

I was wondering if you ever read anything. Actually, as metaphors go it can be a good read. I am an ex christian and still read it occassionally. (I am a follower of the Tao) You contradict yourself.. if something is interesting it cannot be a bore.. so you do not find it interesting at all.. and most probably do not read much of anything. I suspect if the bible were an action movie you might find it more palatable.

I am only 15 and I love the BIBLE. I have a very close relationship with God and I have had this relationship with him for 5 years. I'll admit there are times when I read God's word and don't understand whats going on, BUT it is great. You should read it. It's very exciting and I love it. Psalms and Revelations are my Fave books out of the Bible.

God Bless!
