He had his own show - the title of which was his name: The ____ ____ Show, I think. He sat on a stool in front of a live audience. He did short bits between showing sketches on the screens behind him. He always wore a suit. He was missing part of one of his index fingers. Benny Hill parodied him by putting his finger up to his nose as if he had his entire finger up his nose - very funny.

Yeah the first guy got it, Dave Allen, he was Irish and very funny.
Here is one I remember.
The man is in church. He says, lord, please, I just want to win the lottery one time, it's all I ask. A loud rumble is heard and a voice from above says Buy A Ticket!!!
